Avocados: Supah food.

I absolutely hated avocados…until I realize there was more to ’em than just guacamole and sliced onto sandwiches.

Avocados have over 20 essential nutrients, can aid in weight loss or help in maintaining a current body weight. They also enable other nutrients to be absorbed easier into your system. They can help decrease cholesterol and your chance of heart disease…and thats just the start! In an (avocado) shell -haha- there amazing. 

To be honest, I cant really stand them plain…they make me gag….but in the avocado pudding posted earlier this month and this NEW recipe they are a staple in my diet.

Brazilian Avocado shake:

Ingredients: (Serves 2)

  • 1 ripe avocado 
  • 2 cups non dairy milk ( again do yourself a favour and get some vanilla almond milk)
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon Juice ( Fresh lemon is best)
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 4-5 ice cubes. (May need more depending on the consistency you like)

Directions:

BLEND IT UP! and of course no need to share the second serving. Thats optional.

Note: If your new to avocados you may find it helpful to add a banana to this recipe. Though delicious without, the banana definitely adds a welcome sweetness!Image

    I’ve had an “alternative” for pizza that you had out awhile ago…i believe you used Spelt flour for the crust? and…it was “Amazing”. My “meat and potatoes” man even tried it…reluctantly that is, but, not only did he try it, he loved it and ended up eating a few pieces. I can’t remember all that was on it though. Can you “please ” post it on your site? Not only was the taste fabulous but I felt great after eating a few pieces myself and best of all, no “guilty” after-taste. Love love love your recipes, the variety, and how simple everything is to make. My co-worker was on your site last night was thrilled to see your Avacado Ranch Dip. Will definitely be making it myself. Thanks.
